Am I Crazy or Is Everyone All of Sudden Into the Nylon Bag Trend?

I love you with all my heart, Fashion, but some handbag trends are annoying. I’m sure you’ve probably seen some of the minis that can barely fit a quarter inside, for example. But, finally, the time has come for a fully functional moment that’s not only perfect for everyday use, but the material is sturdy enough to last for years and years to come. (Oh, it’s also super easy to clean.) Friends, say hello to the Nylon Handbag Trend. (*Waves frantically.*)

You’re right, it’s actually not new. You might remember Kate Moss walking around with one on her shoulders back in the early 2000s. But we’ve gotta clap it up to Prada for single-handedly bringing the movement back to life about 20 years later. The Italian fashion house officially gave its famous nylon bags a comeback at the end of 2019, and—BOOM—they were all of sudden e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e—as in at every fashion week all around the world.

The queen of this style is the baguette bag. You know, the long, skinny shoulder bags that kinda look like the French bread? But we’re also seeing designers lean into nylon fabric with pouches, backpacks, and fanny packs. I’ll admit, I splurged on the Prada 2005 Re-Edition, but you don’t have to go all out to get the look. There are tons of affordable nylon cuties hoping for a chance to be added to your closet below. Don’t be shy—shop with me!
