Brendan Fraser Continues Winning Streak With New Role

Brendan Fraser was just cast in the upcoming superhero movie, Batgirl, which will be premiering on HBO Max.

It’s great to see a success story such as the one Brendan Fraser has just accomplished. After a great early career full of box-office hits, Fraser’s roles had lessened considerably for a while due to a couple of complex, various reasons. However, now, he has been cast as the villain in Batgirl and his fans couldn’t be more excited to see him working in mainstream projects again. Fraser has been cast in some other recent projects as well making him one of the most prolific comeback stories of recent years.

Batgirl is the forthcoming Warner Bros. superhero movie starring Leslie Grace who made audiences fall in love with her this past summer through her role in the musical In the Heights. Also appearing in the picture besides Grace is J.K. Simmons as Police Commissioner Jim Gordon.

Brendan Fraser will be playing the evil sociopath, Firefly, in Batgirl. It’s a departure for Fraser from his heroic roles such as the ones he appeared in during the late 1990’s. In films like George of the Jungle and The Mummy, Fraser created an action hero image that he managed to balance out with complex roles in films like 2005’s Oscar winner for Best Picture, Crash. Then, Fraser disappeared for a while from movies and with his casting in films like Batgirl, Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, Fraser is poised for a huge comeback.

Filmmaking pros Adil El Arbi and Billall Fallah who helmed Bad Boys For Life are directing Batgirl. It will be interesting to see their creativity, which was so prominent in their Bad Boys picture, applied to the DC comics world of Batgirl.

Brendan Fraser is currently one of the most sought after actors and when news became known of his casting in the new role of Firefly, his fans were nothing short of ecstatic. It’s the role we’ve been waiting to see Fraser play for a while now. He’s been cast in so many nice guy parts in the past and also ones where he portrayed ordinary men. His work as Firefly will truly test his range as an actor which many have seen on display in his previous work.

Christina Hodson of Bumblebee fame is writing the script for Batgirl and it will be a lot of fun to see how this project comes together with so many excellent creative forces working together on it. Fraser’s announcement has made his fans proud and we’re all looking forward to seeing how he does in this juicy villainous role.
