The violent original starred Sylvester Stallone as troubled Vietnam veteran John Rambo.
But Bollywood film fans like to see a touch of romance with lots of colourful song-and-dance numbers.
“I am an Indian and I know our directors. It will be a hell of a wreck”
And one shocked Rambo fan warned after hearing of the plans: “I am an Indian and I know our directors. It will be a hell of a wreck.”
Stallone, now 70, who co-wrote the screenplay for the cult classic, at first seemed to feel the same.
He captioned an Instagram image of the original movie poster saying: “I read recently they are remaking Rambo in India!!…..Great character….hope they don’t wreck it.”
Later though Stallone made it clear he backed the film, adding: “Some people like to read my words and twist them.”
Rahul Puri, of filmmakers Mukta Arts, said: “It could be a big hit.”
