Brendan Dassey’s brother blasts Making a Murderer’s Ken Kratz: 'Sick of his sweaty a**'

TV

Making a Murderer is the Netflix series which has viewers gripped the world-over – exploring the lives of Steven Avery, 56, and Brendan Dassey, 29.

Steven was given a life sentence for the murder of Teresa Halbach in 2007 without the possibility of parole – plus an additional five years for the illegal possession of a firearm by a Wisconsin jury.

Nephew Brendan was also slapped with a life sentence with the earliest possibility of parole in 2048.

The first series explored Avery and Dassey’s original 2007 trials, while season two documented the post-conviction process, and introduced Avery’s new lawyer, Kathleen Zellner.

While Zellner was hailed as a “bad a**” by many, Ken Kratz – who led the prosecution against Avery in 2005 – has been labelled a “sweaty a**” by Dassey’s half-brother, Brad.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, Brad revealed his anger towards the Special Prosecutor, and his upset at spending another Christmas without Brendan and Steven.

Kratz was accused of prosecutorial misconduct by Zellner for holding a press conference before the Avery trial, which could have prejudiced the case in the jury’s eyes.

Since then, Kratz who had his law license suspended for four months in 2014 after he tried to spark a relationship with a domestic abuse victim, has continued to speak about Brendan and Steven online and to the press.

He also released a book last year, sharing his thoughts on Avery, as well starring in new TV miniseries Convicting a Murderer, which, in Kratz’ words shows the “other side” to the case.

Sharing his thoughts on Kratz, Brad said: “I think Ken should shut his damn mouth because nobody likes him. We’re sick of hearing from him and his sweaty a**.

“I can’t wait until the day Kathleen Zellner takes him down. I personally don’t think he should have paraded his sweaty a** all over local TV back then before the trial even happened. In my eyes, it was guilty until proven innocent.”

The alternative murder suspect Zellner put forward was Brendan’s brother Brad Dassey – Zellner claimed there was child pornography and content of a necrophiliac nature on the Dassey family computer and it was Bobby who had downloaded it.

She said Brad had sent her an affidavit claiming Bobby and Brendan’s mum Barb Tadych (Brad’s former stepmum,) asked him to wipe the pornography off the computer, which he declined to do.

Brad isn’t currently talking to Barb or Brendan due to “family drama”.

He explained: “There’s been some family drama going on. I tried to make peace with the family, but I don’t think they really want to reconcile at this time. My brother [Brendan] did write a letter to me recently and said he does still love me. So that’s good.”

Speaking about what he’d say to Brendan this Christmas, Brad revealed: “Since Brendan won’t write back, I’ve sent several other loyal supporters little titbits of supportive messages – such as ‘Merry Christmas’, ‘I love you’, ‘Please write back someday’, ‘I’m fighting and praying for you’.’I’m also supporting you any way I can’.”

Brad has also released track They Didn’t Do It to help garner support for Steven and Brendan, who he is convinced didn’t commit the murder of Teresa Halbach.

Explaining his reasoning behind penning the song, Brad said: “Years ago, I was part of my family Facebook group and a couple of people mentioned I should make a song out of Brendan’s letter to the judge. Although I thought it was heartfelt of him to write it, I wasn’t really led to use the letter originally, so I came up with a whole different spectrum of the song with a few people’s help.”

He continued: “I didn’t realise the song would really take off, but I’m glad it helped bring more spotlight to my brother’s cause.  There is speculation I am making secret money behind closed doors, but the song is free on YouTube, SoundCloud and also Zedge, as a free ringtone.”
