While Cheryl’s comeback has been left in tatters after a series of set-backs, One Direction hunk Liam is proving he doesn’t need his X Factor bandmates to dominate the charts.
This week his Jonas Blue collab Polaroid continued to rise up the charts three weeks after release.
The track is currently just outside the Top 10 at number 12.
Meanwhile, after just two weeks, Cheryl’s long awaited comeback single Love Made Me Do It has gone into free-fall.
The song, which is about her rocky love-life, has crashed all the way out of the UK Top 40.
Love Made Me Do It is now at number 47 after initial debuting at number 19 last week.
If it continues to fall at the same speed, Cheryl’s single won’t even be in the Top 100 by Christmas.
Cheryl is now being beaten in the charts by three songs from the A Star Is Born soundtrack and three songs from The Greatest Showman Soundtrack.
Since going solo Liam has defied the odds and enjoyed global success.
His debut offering Strip That Down smashed records around the world and peaked at number 3 in the UK.
Bedroom Floor narrowly missed out on the Top 20 coming in at 21, while his Zedd collaboration came in at 26.
Meanwhile, his Rita Ora duet For You – which was recorded for racy flick Fifty Shades Freed – broke the Top 10 and made it to number 8 as well as enjoying 17 weeks in the charts.
Since emerging from her self-imposed hiding, Cheryl’s comeback has struggled to gain momentum.
Not only did her Love Made Me Do It music video suffered an epic technical error which saw it temporality pulled from YouTube, but she sparked speculation she had turned to fillers after she appeared ‘different’ during a promo trip to Capital Radio.
Directly commenting on the speculation, the mum-of-one took to Twitter to claim it was simply due to a ‘pillow crease’.
Finally her X Factor comeback was slated for being ‘cringe-worthy’ and her questionable live vocals were also mocked.
During the performance, Cheryl grinded in front of former boss Simon Cowell as she tried to sing along while being thrown about by her hunky backing dancers.
