And with her ex Liam Payne enjoying global success with his post One Direction solo music, pressure is mounting on Cheryl to come up with chart hits – especially as her last single bombed in the charts.
Despite hitting the top-spot in 2014 twice with Crazy Stupid Love and I Don’t Care, her most recent single Only Human failed to make the Top 100 upon its release in February 2015.
Since then she’s failed to put out another track.
“Cheryl’s out of Polydor and now Universal altogether?”
Now the pop beauty who was signed to Universal Music has mysteriously vanished from the record label’s online roster causing fans to speculate she’s been dropped or has jumped ship to a rival label.
Others think Simon Cowell has managed to persuade Cheryl to ditch Universal for his own record label Syco.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Geez.
“Cheryl out of Universal. Simon wanted it so much he succeed.
“I bet it will be Sony.”
Another added: “Cheryl has left Universal Music and removed from the catalogue on the label’s website.”
A third probed: “Cheryl is no longer listed as an artist at Universal.
“A brand new team and a fresh start for Cheryl’s comeback? Who would you like to see her sign to?”
“Cheryl’s out of Polydor and now Universal altogether?” a fourth questioned.
However, sources have confirmed to Daily Star that despite Cheryl being dropped from the official Universal Music website she is still signed to the music giant though will be releasing new music via a different sub label.
In March this year it was revealed she had parted ways with Polydor – the Universal Music subsidiary who released her previous albums.
A source at the time said: “There wasn’t anyone left at Polydor who worked with her in the past so it seemed the right time for a change.
“She is still contracted to Universal so now it’s a case of figuring out which label is the correct fit for the direction she is going in.”
With new music expected in the coming weeks, Cheryl is believed to have already signed to her new label – though is keen to keep everyone guessing for now.
In what could be a blessing in disguise, Daily Star Online understand Cheryl has not signed with Universal offshoot Capitol meaning she won’t be sharing the same team as her ex Liam.
The Strip That Down superstar has already confirmed his own album will drop on September 14.
“Cheryl is in the studio working hard on a fifth album but there are concerns she just isn’t relevant in music anymore,” a music source told The Sun in March.
“It has been four years since she last released anything and the industry has completely changed since then with the rise of streaming.
“She still has a small group of core fans but they will not be enough to make this new music a success.”
