Ant, 42, failed a roadside breathalyser test after reportedly crashing his car and was arrested, but was released under investigation.
The Geordie lad returned to his home in the early hours of the morning, while his green Mini remains at the scene of the smash.
The penalties for driving while above the legal limit can include six months in prison, a fine and a driving ban for a year, or three years if it is the second conviction in 10 years.
It would also go on the person’s criminal record, which could affect travelling abroad.
One of Ant’s main jobs is hosting I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! alongside Declan Donnelly, which is filmed in Australia every year.
So could Ant be barred from heading Down Under after his arrest?
One of the eligibility requirements to obtain any type of Visa to enter Australia discusses criminal convictions.
You must not have any criminal convictions with sentences of 12 months or more, served or not, at the time of travelling to and entering the country.
With that in mind, it seems there would be nothing arising from the arrest barring Ant from being allowed entry into Australia.
In 2016, Ant and Dec signed a three-year deal to stay with ITV, reportedly worth around £30million.
I’m A Celeb doesn’t air until the end of the year, though there were fears the arrest could affect Ant’s current telly job, Saturday Night Takeaway.
But Lorraine Kelly today said: “Poor guy, he will be there on Saturday night, a lot of people are speculating he won’t be there for Saturday Night Takeaway. He will.
“I don’t see… unless there’s more to it than we all think. I’d be very surprised, he’s such a worker.”
However, the finale is set to be filmed in Universal Studios in America, which could potentially be jeopardised by Ant’s arrest.
If you have been arrested, you are required to declare it when applying for a visa to enter the US.
Normally, people can travel visa free under the Visa Waiver Program, rather than having to apply for a visa, which could be affected by an arrest.
The arrest comes not long after it was confirmed that Ant and his wife Lisa Armstrong had split.
Since then, he’s been keeping busy with work, returning with Saturday Night Takeaway and filming Britain’s Got Talent.
Daily Star Online has contacted a representative for ITV for comment.
