And fans had nothing by praise for the actress over her portrayal as Doctor Who.
BBC viewers had to wait a full ten minutes into the show before Jodie Whittaker appeared on-screen.
However, they definitely thought it was worth it, judging by the Twitter reaction.
One exclaimed: “Jodie’s performance so far is bringing Doctor Who to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL.”
“Jodie Whittaker is nailing this”
While another added: “I already love Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor.”
A third continued: “Yeah, loving the new incarnation of The Doctor. Jodie Whittaker is nailing this.”
Jodie, who is the 13th Doctor, is the first ever woman to play the role.
She takes over from Peter Capaldi, who played the part between 2014-17.
Tonight’s launch show, which featured The Chase star Bradley Walsh, saw Jodie launch the role by falling on to a train.
The blonde was seen dressed in the last Doctor’s clothes – a white shirt teamed with waistcoat.
She then exclaimed her surprise at being a female when called “Mam,” replied: “Am I a woman?”
Doctor Who airs on BBC One on Sunday nights.
