Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of Hatching, Peacemaker, That ’70s Show, Justified, Malcolm X, Ip Man, Romeo and Juliet, Event Horizon, The Banshees of Inisherin, and Till are the most noteworthy releases (and pre-orders) on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Hatching and had this to say about the film:

See Hatching, another tremendously successful movie from the IFC Midnight releasing label. It will give you a nightmare or two along the way though I can’t tell you for certain who will haunt those bad dreams more–the evil bird or the mother from the picture. This is a must-see for horror fans!

FilmBook Editor in chief Rollo Tomasi reviewed IP Man and had this to say about the film:

Wilson Yip’s Ip Man is a good martial arts film about an extraordinary martial arts Grand Master. Ip Man is not quite as good as Fearless but it serves its purpose. It brings an important figure in the history of martial arts to the viewers’ attention.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed The Banshees of Inisherin and had this to say about the film:

The Banshees of Inisherin simply refuses to play it safe in any way, shape or form and is a stronger film as a result. McDonagh is one of the bravest directors working today and he brings fierce, raw intensity to the movie in every frame. Audiences will search their souls to understand these characters and may find themselves drawn to all the central characters of the movie in one way or another.
