He is causing somewhat of a buzz, with the public divided over the festive promo as many accuse the department store of ditching their traditional festive flair in exchange for simply giving Elton, 71, a platform to promote his upcoming tour.
Though this is not the first time Elton has got everyone’s tongues wagging.
And Elton’s latest advert has prompted one social networker to pull out a throwback clip from back in 2008.
The pair, both known for not mincing their words, came head-to-head on the London Royal Opera House stage.
In what is believed to be a scripted performance, Elton alluded back to his hedonistic party ways.
Topping up her champagne glass throughout proceedings, it all began when Lily introduced Carol Vorderman while dropping the F-bomb several times.
“F*** off. I don’t know what you are talking about.”
She then turned to Elton and said: “And now the most important part of the night.”
To which Elton responded: “What? Are you going to have another drink?”
Lily then fired back: “F*** off Elton. I am 40 years younger than you and have my whole life ahead of me!”
Not willing to back down, Elton said: “I could still snort you under the table.”
To which Lily replied: “F*** off. I don’t know what you are talking about.”
While the audience may have been shocked at the scandalous exchange, both stars have been vocal about their drug use.
Earlier this year, prior to her latest album No Shame, Lily opened up about being “co-dependent” in relationships and revealed to Stereogum that at times when she feels like she can’t cope, “I abuse alcohol and drugs to plaster over some stuff”.
She also admitted on Twitter she had once been kicked out the Glamour Awards because “someone gave me a line of what I assumed to be cocaine but it turned out to be ketamine”.
Her openness is nothing new, back in 2009 she told GQ: “I think the way I behave is normal for someone my age and in my situation.
“I know a lot of guys in bands who go to awards ceremonies and get into the same sort of states that I get myself into, and that’s not negatively reported on. So it feels kind of unjust.
“I think as long as you’re not being malicious and you’re not hurting people then you should not be ashamed of what you do.
“I’ve taken drugs. I found them and find them fun and I don’t think I’m a bad person because of it.”
Meanwhile, Elton John once confessed to taking cocaine “every four minutes”.
Back in 2012, in an interview with NBC’s Today’s Show, the singer/songwriter – born Reginald Kenneth Dwight – said he could easily have died like Whitney Houston as he “did as much cocaine as she ever did”.
He added: “I never considered myself a drug addict. I thought drug addicts were people who stuck needles in their arms – and I was the biggest junkie there was. I came very close to dying.”
Having claimed he lost his humanity to addiction, Elton later completed a stint in rehab and now has an incredible feat of 28 years of sobriety.
Interestingly, Lily also had her own Christmas ad with John Lewis, singing Somewhere Only We Know for their 2013 commercial.
However, she later expressed her disdain for it, telling Vulture: “What f***ed me off was being bullied into doing Somewhere Only We Know for the John Lewis advert.
“I said, ‘I don’t wanna be in a John Lewis advert.’ And they [the record label] said, ‘If you don’t, the morale’s gonna be low at the label.’”
