It will show their early years as they clashed with each other on their way to winning gold in the 1984 Winter Olympics.
Game Of Thrones actor Will Tudor, 31, takes the role of Christopher Dean while Ackley Bridge’s Poppy Lee Friar, 23, plays Jayne Torvill.
Torvill and Dean were crowned ice dance champions in Sarajevo with their famous performance to Ravel’s Bolero.
The Dancing On Ice judges have both had a direct input into the biopic and were interviewed by screenwriter William Ivory.
“We feel very honoured that ITV have commissioned this film based on what was a very significant period in each of our lives”
And he has now turned their story into a two hour drama called simply Torvill And Dean.
Last night Jayne, 60, said: “We feel very honoured that ITV have commissioned this film based on what was a very significant period in each of our lives.”
The drama will focus on the pair’s humble beginnings in Nottingham. Viewers will see a young Chris, now 59, channel his anger over his parents’ break-up into his skating.
Meanwhile, shy Jayne uses ice dancing to explore her passionate nature.
Writer Mr Ivory said: “It’s been such a privilege to work on this piece. Chris and Jayne are such fascinating characters.”
