It seems ITV bosses are keen to replicate the success of last year’s series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
Football manager Harry Redknapp stormed to victory, and it sounds like producers want to find someone similar for this year’s series.
That person is reported to be former Arsenal striker Ian Wright, 55, who is said to have been offered “a six figure sum”.
A source said: “Ian would be a massive signing for ITV who’ve been keen to get him Down Under for a while.
“Ian’s not afraid of much but has joked to his pals he’ll be useless at the eating tasks”
“After watching Harry Redknapp win the last series, Ian has decided he would be up for giving it a whirl.”
The source continued to the Sun: “Ian’s not afraid of much but has joked to his pals he’ll be useless at the eating tasks because he’s so fussy.”
The ITV show regularly nabs former footballers for I’m A Celeb for the line-up, so Ian would be in good company.
Ex-Premier League stars have taken part in the four most recent series – Dennis Wise, Wayne Bridge, Kieron Dyer and then Harry Redknapp.
This year’s series will see the return of Ant McPartlin after he took last year off of hosting duties.
He was replaced by Holly Willoughby, who joined Ant’s right-hand man Declan Donnelly in front of cameras.
Ant took an extended break from his work schedule to focus on his recovery after a drink-driving crash.
And the changes to the hosting line-up seemed to go down well with fans.
The 2018 series had an average of 12.1million viewers, the highest the ITV series has ever seen.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is set to return later this year.
