At this year’s Teen Choice Awards, there was a lot of representation in the nominations for K-Pop.
And, although not nominated, popular group MONSTA-X were scheduled to perform at the award show.
In each category there was a K-Pop act nominated, they proved the most popular and took home the award.
That left BTS with four awards – one in each of the categories they were nominated – and BLACKPINK and Red Velvet with one each.
BTS, who are taking an “extended” break from work, bagged Choice International Artist.
They boys – Jimin, V, RM, J-Hope, Jungkook, Jin and Suga – up against some tough competition though, including fellow K-Pop groups BLACKPINK, EXO and NCT 127.
The seven-piece boyband also won Choice Collaboration for their song Boy With Luv, which features Halsey.
BTS’s Love Yourself: Speak Yourself won Choice Summer Tour, though BLACKPINK’s 2019 World Tour (In Your Area) was also nominated.
And, proving their fans are the most loyal, the BTS Army won Choice Fandom – though BLACKPINK’s Blinks had a nomination too.
While BLACKPINK didn’t clinch a win in any of the categories they faced off against BTS in, they did win Choice Song: Group.
The four-piece – made up of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa – won for their smash hit DDU-DU DDU-DU.
And Red Velvet – comprising of Joy, Seulgi, Irene, Wendy and Yeri – won for a collaborative track.
They five-piece made an appearance on a remixed version of the Ellie Goulding and Diplo song Close To Me, which won Choice Electronic/Dance Song.
Meanwhile, MONSTA-X took to the stage – despite receiving no nominations – and performed their English-language track Who Do U Love?
However, only six members of the group – Shownu, Wonho, Minhyuk, Hyungwon, Joohoney and IM – were present, as Kihyun was forced to sit out due to a rib fracture.
