Denise Welch has opened up about her married to Lincoln Townley.
Despite the 15 year age gap, the 60-year old revealed that younger men like “confident, older women” because they’re open to “talking about sex”.
On the latest instalment of Loose Women, the panelist discussed BBC One’s new romantic thriller Gold Digger.
The show is centred on wealthy 60-year old Julia, who falls in love with Benjamin, a man 26-years her junior. However, her family thinks he may be attracted more to her money than Julia herself.
Discussing their own marriages to younger men, Denise jokingly quipped: “Well, I am the expert!”
In 2012, she split from Benidorm actor Tim Healy after marrying in 1988, and struck up a relationship with PR manager Lincoln shortly after.
“I’ve married my carer,” she playfully said to her fellow panelists.
“If they bring out the best in me, I think age is irrelevant.
Making her point, she continued: “A lot of older women are open to talking about sex and the bedroom.
“Older women are more confident, and don’t take themselves too seriously, she added.
“And as Joan Collins said, ‘If they die they die,'” she laughed.
Meanwhile, Janet-Street Porter discussed her two marriages, which were both to younger partners.
“When I was 40, I married a man who was 25 – so that’s a 15 year age-gap. Well, it lasted about 5 minutes,” she said.
“When older men have children with younger women, no one bats an eyelid. But it’s the other way around… it’s not a level playing field.”
Loose Women airs on ITV at 12:30pm on weekdays.
