The 27-year-old confessed: “The actual day of the final is a nice day because they are doing a lot of setting up for the live final, so we had a day off.

“We were just chilling by the pool in a separate villa, you kind of get shipped out.

“So it was a nice day. You just get to chill before and it’s just so exciting, because by that point you’re so happy to be in the final.

“No one’s really thinking about the winning aspect, and you feel nervous – you know you’re going home the next day.”

Tonight, Caroline will give the winning couple the opportunity to split £50,000 between them.

But former islander Charlie Brake today said: “When you go in there, no one really mentions the money.”

Of course, £25,000 probably doesn’t sound like much to .

His girlfriend Ellie Brown was also on This Morning, who admitted life is easier away from the villa.

LOVED-UP: Ellie and Charlie are living together after the villa

She said: “You’re not living in a villa with loads of people, cameras and tests constantly.

“But it is harder in the terms of people putting out negative comments and opinions, and people trying to ruin your relationship.

“We’ve loved it. We’ve probably got closer living together just us two together.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
