OLD SCHOOL: Contestants try to find romance using cheeky chat-up lines

And in an age of dating apps and swiping left or right, Blind Date is going back to basics as contestants try to find romance using the age-old method of cheeky chat-up lines.

Today fans got to see some of the new set.

There is a stairway which lights up when O’Grady walks down to start the show.

And just like the original show, there will be a sliding door with three stools.

This is where the dates will sit hidden from view from their potential suitor.

And just like the old series, there will be a voiceover star.

Melanie Sykes will take on the role previously carried out by Graham Skidmore.

Channel 5 have revealed that there will be “thematic twists” to freshen up the show.

They are rumoured to include LBGT weeks as TV bosses welcome gay and lesbian and transgender contestants for the first time.
