Piers Morgan‘s GMB co-star Charlotte Hawkins gave him a bit of a telling off on Monday’s show, when he made a glib comment about Ranvir Singh’s Strictly elimination.
The Good Morning Britain presenter failed to make it to the Strictly finale last weekend, when she was forced to enter a dance-off in the bottom two.
Judge Shirley Ballas voted to save Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing, meaning Ranvir and her partner Giovanni Pernice were sent home.
Praising her colleague today, Susanna Reid swooned that Ranvir was “such a beautiful dancer”.
Piers, however, didn’t seem bothered by her elimination, saying: “Yep, but that’s it. She’s out.”
Horrified by the throwaway remark, Charlotte, who was also a contestant on Strictly three years ago, yelled: “What about the sympathy!”
Piers was savage in his reply, pointing out Ranvir had lost the competition fair and square.
He said: “These things are competitions, and she lost.
“Sorry to rain on the parade, but there we are. It’s back to 6am doorsteps at Downing Street, Ranvir, I’m afraid. That’s the way the cookie crumbles.”
Susanna’s face said it all, as she looked to the sidelines, and simply replied: “We’re going to see her this week.”
Dancing for their place in the final, Ranvir and Giovanni performed a jive in tune to the track Candyman.
After the judges delivered their verdict, Ranvir issued an apology to her pro dance partner, saying: “I’m just really sorry for him, he’s worked so hard and been in so many finals that I’m really sorry I couldn’t do it for you. Sorry.”
Professional dancer Giovanni, however, was quick to shut down the remarks, as he congratulated her journey on the show.
He said: “You don’t have to be sorry at all, we’ve both worked very hard, you’ve been an absolute dream to work with.
“You are a true hero, your job at three o’clock in the morning then you come in the room and dance with me.”
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
