On today’s , slated the ability of show bosses – and they decided to fight back.

Piers, 53, had a bit of a spat with co-host Susanna Reid, 48, after she pointed out he didn’t read the autocue right.

But Piers wasn’t having any of it, saying: “It said earlier that it was the paper review and we didn’t have the papers, so I don’t believe entirely what I am seeing on that screen.

“I have lost confidence in the gallery’s ability to deliver.

“They’re a bit like Theresa May at the moment – they promise on that screen what we have and then nothing happens.”

Within seconds, Piers and Susanna were yanked off air, with the screen going black for viewers at home.

Susanna joked the crew had “gone on strike” as she picked her jaw back up from the floor.

The crew weren’t done with their payback though, as when the picture returned, it was focused on Charlotte Hawkins.

Piers seemed to back down a little, saying: “They have got the ultimate power.

“They can literally yank the plug. And then viewers would rebel and you’ll all have to lose your jobs.”

Yesterday’s show was hit by another technical gaffe when the voiceover read out the wrong date.

Piers fumed: “It wasn’t deliberate. Literally someone’s asleep – but they won’t be when we finish with them.

“11th December 2018. Whoever that was had one job, one job, to press a button.”

Today’s episode was rather explosive, as Piers and Susanna debated hairy underarms on women.

They had Kate Smurthwaite and Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace on to help, with Big Brother’s Aisleyne gagging over Kate’s armpits.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
