Blue singer Lee Ryan, who famously was involved in a love triangle during his time in the CBB house, took to Instagram to speak out against the vilification of the shamed actress.
In heartfelt plea, the Strictly 2018 star wrote: “In a world where we try and make mental illness aware and understood – everyone sure is getting their rotten fruit out.
“Yes it’s so horrible what she did but at the same time she clearly has some mental issues there and deep set in her.
“No one is that nasty and vindictive without some kind of mental health issue.”
Duncan James’ bandmate continued: “I’m not sticking up for her at all, but people seem to choose support mental health but when seen the truth and ugliness of what real mental health is – and it’s direct result – then they get their rotten fruit at the ready.
“The girl clearly has some mental health issues.
“She don’t need to be pinned to a post for you to all enjoy. Lee Ryan.”
Roxanne has prompted national outrage after falsely, and repeatedly, accusing Ryan Thomas of hitting her like a punching bag.
“It wasn’t play fighting…He went for it… he did it with his fists… it was so sore… he did that with the intention of hurting me”
“It wasn’t play fighting…He went for it… he did it with his fists… it was so sore… he did that with the intention of hurting me” she told Ben in the bathroom toilet.
Roxanne later added to Dan and Jermaine: “This is why women don’t say anything because it is turned around.”
Speaking in the diary room, Roxanne said: “He [Ryan] is trying to manipulate them in thinking that I am making this up – i’m not making this up.
“He is tarnishing my reputation by saying this is an act.”
As the public anger reaches fever pitch, Roxanne appeared on both The Jeremy Vine Show and CBB to issue a grovelling apology.
However, many viewers accused her of simply trying to save her career with an insincere PR spin.
Meanwhile, crisis talks are currently ongoing to decided if Roxanne will be able to keep her role of Cinderella in an uncoming Pantomine in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
