Fashion fans noticed a big change in Meghan Markle’s style when she became the Duchess of Sussex.
Over the last few months, many have commented on the fact the former Suits actress has been dressing more conservatively.
So what other wardrobe habits has the 37-year-old changed since she walked down the aisle?
1. Ripped denim is no more
In one of Meghan’s first appearances with Harry, she rocked jeans and a white shirt.
It’s highly unconventional for a royal to wear jeans, especially if they’re ripped or distressed looking.
After Meg became a Duchess, she seems to have ditched denim altogether.
Today, she appears to feel more comfortable wearing tailored trousers.
2. Short and tight dresses are out
Before she married Harry, Meghan was a fan of mini dresses that showed off her figure.
Stylist Jessica Harris previously told Daily Star Online: “As a young actress in her early twenties we see lots of colour blocking prints, short hems, bandeau necklines and body con pieces that aren’t out of place in the wardrobe of a struggling actress trying to get noticed.”
While Meg’s style did get more sophisticated when she landed a role in Suits, she still didn’t shy away from showing a little skin.
Nowadays, the royal tends to stick to midi dresses and trousers.
3. Tuxedo suits blocked
Aptly, the Duchess has always been a fan of wearing suits.
But according to The Mail on Sunday, Prince Harry rejected one of his wife’s recent wardrobe requests.
Ahead of their Australia tour, he is said to have thumbsed-down Meg’s plans to wear a tuxedo.
In an interview with the paper, an insider said: “Meghan is being told she needs to stop dressing like a Hollywood star and start dressing like a Royal.
“Meghan wanted to wear a tuxedo-style suit but Harry said it wasn’t traditional enough.”
4. Bare legs ban
In May, onlookers noticed that Meghan had begun wearing tights under her dresses.
Even when donning a luxurious midi dress by GOAT, she made sure to keep her calves covered.
Members of the Royal Family aren’t often pictured with their bare legs out, so it wasn’t a surprise to many.
One responder tweeted: “Meghan Markle is wearing tights. She’s officially a Royal.”
Another agreed: “Her look has changed since the wedding, this is a very conservative look.”
5. No more nail varnish
You may have noticed that the Duchess of Cambridge is never pictured wearing nail polish.
Apparently, the popular cosmetic item isn’t considered to be part of the royal etiquette.
According to OK! magazine, it could be seen as “vulgar” if Meg stepped out wearing it.
In the past, the former actress has worn dark colours on her nails.
On the rare occasion she wears it nowadays, like on her wedding day, she opts for nude and neutral shades.
