In a video shared to the official Strictly Come Dancing Instagram page, fans get their first glimpse of what they can expect from the Emmerdale actor.
Speaking directly into the camera, dressed in his full ballroom costume, the 35-year-old actor grinned as he introduced himself.
He said: “Hello, I’m Kelvin Fletcher and I’m an actor.”
He added: “People will best know me for playing Andy Sugden on Emmerdale.”
The actor went on to rub his hands up and down his dancing clothes while adding: “It’s a whole new world to me, even this feels a little bit alien, but I quite like it.”
Dad-of-one, Kelvin claimed he could bring a story and the narrative to each performance thanks to his acting skills.
He said: “If I can’t do that then, might as well give up as an actor, hadn’t I?”
Kelvin went on to say that he is most excited for the tunes that will be played throughout the competition, claiming to be a huge music fan across a range of genres.
The 35-year-old then went on to cite his Dad as his idol.
He said: “Growing up, watching him dance to Northern Soul – he used to do the little shimmy on the dance floor, and I used to think ‘Oh, he looks cool’.”
The actor went on to say that this is now his chance to emulate his father.
Kelvin was a last-minute addition to the programme after Made in Chelsea star, Jamie Laing was forced to pull out of the competition with an injury.
