Susanna, 49, clashed with GMB co-star Piers Morgan minutes into the show after he called for more ‘ coronavirus shaming’ to happen by the authorities and members of the public to catch people breaking the government’s rules.
“I don’t like the corna-shaming of them,” Susanna admitted when talking about Derbyshire Police’s controversial viral drone video of people walking out in the Peak District.
Taking the opposite view, Piers hit back: “You can fine them or you can shame them.
“I think the government have been not draconian enough, leaving people to think it is not as bad
“It would be easier if they said don’t go in your car.”
After Susanna insisted she can sympathise with those in lockdown, Piers raged: “Do you understand, people are already moaning we it is really not tough?
“Just open the beer or wine and get a grip and grow a pair.
“Realise we need to toughen up a bit and get a bit of resilience and perspective.”
Later on in the show, Piers jibed he thought Susanna would have ‘come to her senses’ during her two weeks in self-isolation.
Despite the clash, Susanna was pleased to be back in ITV HQ.
The brunette said: “It is good to be back, I had a slight different co-presenter from my sofa, my cat Sukie.
“She was a little quicker than my usual co-presenter.
“It is a relief to be back in the studio.
“I really feel for people in the lockdown… it is difficult being in lockdown.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
