The Masked Singer UK: Who is the Masked Singer? Full list of those uncovered so far

TV

The Masked Singer continues this weekend at 7pm on Saturday, January 18 on ITV.

Following its global success, the surreal programme has come to the UK.

The show sees 12 celebrities mask up with bizarre disguises in a bid to impress the judges and the audience.

Meanwhile, they have no idea who is behind the costume – and people are dying to find out.

Unlike the X Factor, the judges don’t actually rate the performers in terms of singing talent.

instead they judge it based on overall performance ability.

The aim of the whole show is to be so good at hiding that they are the last celebrity standing.

The series has featured 12 celebrities hiding in these costumes: Queen Bee, Duck, Unicorn, Butterfly, Chameleon, Pharaoh, Three, Fox, Monster, Daisy, Octopus and Hedgehog.

1. Butterfly – Patsy Palmer

Patsy Palmer, who played Bianca Jackson in EastEnders, was the first celebrity to be eliminated.

She was booted off after singing Florence and the Machine’s You’ve Got The Love as the Butterfly.

Speaking after she left the show, she said: “I love singing in general (not that I’m any good) but it’s an extremely uplifting thing to do.

“I love music, it’s a total passion of mine (I DJ) so I’m constantly playing music.

“To be able to get on a stage that size was a dream too although I must say I was really nervous.”

2. Pharaoh – Alan Johnson

Alan Johnson was the second contestant to be unmasked after failing to impress the judges.

The former Home Secretary belted out his rendition of The Bangles hit Walk Like An Egyptian.

After the ex-Labour MP was asked what it was like keeping his appearance a secret, he said it was “very hard”.

He continued: “The show is so extraordinary it’s almost perverse to keep mute about it.”

3. Chameleon – Justin Hawkins

Justin Hawkins

Justin Hawkins was the third person to be unmasked

Viewers were shocked after the Chameleon Masked Singer was revealed to be The Darkness’ Justin Hawkins.

Especially because none of the judges had put his name forward.

After being unmask, Justin said: “It’s weird because there’s a bit of a creative process and jus sort of perfecting the costume and the song choices and so on: there was a lot of work and all of it had to be conducted in perfect secrecy.

“I wasn’t allowed to tell anybody what I was up to and I had to be absent from a few things just to be able to pull it off. So it was challenging because of the usual sounding posts that I use weren’t available to be.”
