Dan Cross was powerless to stop paranoid schizophrenic Marcin Porczynski stabbing Nicola Cross, 37, to death in front of their two children.
After overcoming the trauma, the dad of two yesterday revealed he will now wed his new love Alex Wells, 27.
“I’m engaged to Alex,” said Dan, who met her last year.
“She’s a remarkable woman. We’re hopefully going to get married next year.”
“She’s been perfect”
Earlier this year Dan, 40, revealed he had found love with Alex, a mental health physician and graduate of Bournemouth University.
He said: “She’s been perfect. She specialises in under-fives but she can do things with the kids, techniques and things, I don’t know anything about.”
Dan appeared in the latest series of the Channel 4 show in which ex-Special Forces soldiers put recruits through gruelling tests like the SAS selection process.
The widower had exSpecial Forces hardmen Jason Fox and Ant Middleton in tearful silence as he revealed the harrowing details of that night.
He described how Porczynski, then 27, burst into their home in Hemel Hempstead, Herts, in 2015 and attacked Nicola before kidnapping their children.
At the time Dan was working in Hull and could only listen as the psycho stabbed his wife.
In 2016 Porczynski pleaded guilty to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility and was detained in a secure psychiatric unit indefinitely.
